Collaborative Coding: Empowering students to learn to code together.
Coding should not look like a silent classroom with students working independently. The OYOClass platform turns the classroom into a collaborative world. Student Mentors become leaders in the class, and this creates a community of learners. The seventh-grade coding curriculum at Merrick Avenue introduces students to several different programming languages. During that time students create projects in those languages that allow them to choose their own paths and interests. The capstone project takes all of their skills and creates a showcase for their work in the form of a website portfolio.

Connected Community Learning: Personalized Learning for Students and Teachers
What if miles, subjects, time, and titles didn’t place constraints on learning in your school district? What if your students and teachers were given the opportunity to own their own learning? This session will explore how the kidOYO platform has motivated students across all grade levels, K-12, to learn many coding languages but also develop their personalized learning paths. Learning beyond pedagogy, many students are going home and doing self-paced modules outside of their assigned work to earn badges! Similarly, staff members are racing to complete online PD Courses and Challenges to earn PD hours and badges. We will also explore the ways we are using kidOYO to raise morale, excitement, and engagement for all. The best part...districts can connect these communities and build environments together. Let’s connect.

Datability Web: Easy Data Collection & Analysis for Better Student Outcomes
As a special education teacher and a lover of technology, I'm always looking for software to help streamline my day and keep me organized. When our district gave us chrome books, I looked everywhere for a program that would help me collect data on my student's IEP goals. When I couldn't find anything to suit my needs, I decided to start my own company and create one my self. Through my company, Dembry LLC, I produced Datability Web, a web based data collection program. Users can import their IEP goals, then receive reminders when it's time to collect data. Datability Web produces full color reports with graphed percentages, full color pictures, and notes.

Full STEAM Ahead to the Carnival!
This presentation will show how students can become the designers of their own carnival to develop collaboration and business skills while showing off their creative talents. Using mathematics and technology classes, as well as the engineering design process learned in science class, lessons on probability, coding, algebra, geometry, and science have given students empowerment in their learning while becoming confident problem solvers. Presenters will show how this project can teach students science, technology, engineering, art, and math skills as students create carnival games by using a 3D-Printer to code, print, and build their own games. Students were tasked with designing a carnival game given business parameters and goals. The students then presented their games and math findings during a Carnival Day when students throughout the school came to play the carnival games and learn about math.

Learning Through Play: A New Model to Teach Entrepreneurship
Entrepreneurship education continues to grow and develop worldwide. When thinking about the ‘future of learning’, it is obvious that the knowledge and skills necessary for the next generation might be different from those needed today. Computer simulation games have long been popular with young adult learners who, as a generation with extended exposure to modern video games, are particularly receptive to a computer-enhanced learning platforms. Employing the powerful complement of gamification and simulation to traditional teaching results in lessons that are productive, meaningful, engaging, and fun. Computer simulation games allow students to create and run a business, be tested by challenges and setbacks, take risks. By incorporating e-learning technology and game play in business education modeling, lessons become more relevant and outcomes are measurable.
